All Reviews for Milwaukee M18 FUEL Telescoping Pole Saw 12in 18V - Bare Tool

    Good, but be aware

Great little tool. A little heavier than expected, but good chain speed and it rips through wood. This unit replaced a Ryobi for me, and there's no comparison between the two - the Ryobi is a toy in comparison (but it also only costs a quarter compared to the Milwaukee). Some points to be aware of:
    - it's a narrow kerf bar, and if you're used to .050 or 0.58 chainsaws like I am, be aware that this bar is noticeably narrower. Which is good for cutting, but the bar also bends easily.
    - the telescoping mechanism is robust, with a good lock.
    - the head doesn't bend or angle, meaning tall cuts can be a little awkward as you're working almost straight up.
    - the strap position is important if you're working for a while. Spend some time getting it right, as this significantly impacts how comfortable it is to use the tool.
    - the strap slips. Once you get the position right, feed the strap back through the buckle to stop it moving.
    - wear a helmet. A couple of time a branch I was cutting fell down and brought something else down with it, narrowly missing me.
    - learn to do offset cuts. Getting the chain stuck 3m off the ground is no fun.
But overall a great tool. I was dubious about 18V but this thing is a beast and cuts very well.
