    Bench top sander

    I am a hobbyist making fully furnished scale houses and needed something that would handle the conversion of pre-loved often neglected old furniture into very small pieces that could not be achieved safely with a hand held belt sander. This is my first bench top belt sander and now wonder how I did without it. The machine itself is solid and sits on the bench without movement. The Allen key slots into the front of the base and is needed to change the belt. I have not needed to bolt or screw it down. It is great to finish larger pieces of timber to a smooth flat surface. The belt changer is straight forward and the disc sander useful as the side table angle is adjustable. The machine performs exceedingly well though will need to consider an extractor fan sooner than later for dust extraction. The only improvement I can suggest would be to make the work stop bar further back to match the length of the base plate. Work wise it is a pleasure to use and allows me to produce an end product to a high degree of finish and accuracy.

    Generally an OK sander.

    Unit seems to be well made. Will see how it goes after 25 years. The supplied unit wasn't quite like the one in the manual but close enough to work out what needs to be done. I only have one minor gripe and a suggestion -
    1. The bottom of the casting (back left hand corner) had a lump of flashing sticking down that prevented the unit from sitting level. I'll have to grind it off tomorrow. Not a biggy but maybe an indication of QA ?
    2. A lot of machines come with allen keys to tighten/remove various things. Most of these are not usually required after setup. However this sander needs the allen key to adjust stuff during the machines lifetime. It would have been nice if the allen key supplied had a handle or was a T type. This would be unlikely to add more than a few cents to the manf cost.
